Backup and disaster recovery
Backups you have already tested, before the day you need them.
Hurricanes, floods, dead drives and ransomware all end badly without a recovery plan. Talos builds backup and recovery around the Gulf Coast's risks and proves that it works.
The short answer
Talos backup and disaster recovery takes encrypted copies of your servers, workstations and cloud data several times a day and keeps them both on-site and off-site, including immutable copies that ransomware cannot change. We confirm every backup completes, run recovery drills and give you a written runbook, so a storm, flood or attack costs minutes of downtime rather than days.
Who it's for
Who it is for
Houston businesses carry a risk most of the country does not: hurricanes, tropical storms, flooding and grid failures, on top of ransomware. The same plan protects businesses anywhere.
Gulf Coast businesses
Storm season, street flooding and long power cuts call for off-site copies stored well outside the storm's path.
Practices with records to keep
HIPAA spells out backup and contingency requirements, and law and accounting files cannot simply be recreated.
Anyone with untested backups
A backup job that reports success is not the same as a restore someone has actually tried.
Companies worried about ransomware
Attackers go after backups first. Copies they cannot reach or change are what let you recover.
What we cover
What's included
Automated backups
Frequent, encrypted backups of servers, workstations and cloud data, running several times a day.
Rapid recovery
Instant virtualization brings a failed server back up from its backup in minutes while the hardware is repaired.
Ransomware protection
Immutable, air-gapped copies that an attacker with your passwords still cannot encrypt or delete.
Local and cloud copies
A hybrid approach: a local copy for fast restores and an off-site copy for when the building is the problem.
Backup monitoring
We check that every job finishes and chase down any that fail. No silent gaps.
Recovery testing
Scheduled disaster recovery drills, plus a written runbook your team can follow when the lights go out.
Before / after
Hoping it works versus knowing
Before
Without a tested plan
- A major data loss can end a small business, not just slow it down
- Nobody has tried restoring from your backups, so you are hoping they work
- Getting back up could take days or weeks
- Backups that are not isolated can be encrypted along with everything else
After
With Talos backup and recovery
- Automated, encrypted backups several times a day
- Air-gapped, immutable copies that ransomware cannot touch
- Recovery procedures we test, so you know the backups work
- Recovery measured in minutes, not days or weeks
How it works
How we build your recovery plan
01
Decide what matters most
We list your systems and data and agree how much of each you can afford to lose and for how long.
02
Back up in two places
Encrypted local copies for quick restores, plus off-site replication far from the Gulf Coast storm track.
03
Lock it down
Immutable, air-gapped copies are separated from your everyday accounts so ransomware cannot reach them.
04
Test and write it down
Regular drills prove the restore works, and a written runbook covers who does what during an outage.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Several times a day for servers and key systems, with workstations and cloud data on their own schedules. Every backup is encrypted, and we confirm each job finishes.
In two places. A local copy allows fast restores, and an off-site copy is replicated to a location well outside the path of a Gulf Coast storm, so losing the office does not mean losing the data.
Not the protected copies. Immutable, air-gapped backups cannot be changed or deleted from your network, even by an attacker using a stolen administrator password.
Because we test them. Every job is monitored, any failure is investigated and rerun, and scheduled recovery drills prove that data and servers can be restored.
Your written runbook says who does what. Critical systems can be brought up from backups while the office is closed, and staff work from wherever they are. Cloud phones on Talos Connect can fail over to mobile apps so calls keep coming in.
They can be. Microsoft keeps your data available, but it is not a full backup. We add an independent backup of email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams as part of our cloud services.
