    Healthcare IT

IT for medical practices, where downtime means patients waiting.

When the network drops, check-ins stall, prescriptions wait and billing stops. Talos keeps your practice's systems up, protects patient data and keeps the HIPAA paperwork in order.

    The short answer

Talos provides managed IT for medical, dental and specialty practices. We build and maintain HIPAA-ready systems with encryption, access controls and documentation, keep the computers and network your EHR depends on running, watch for threats 24/7 and train staff to spot phishing. Talos signs a Business Associate Agreement. On-site help covers Greater Houston, and practices elsewhere are supported remotely.

    Who it's for

The IT problems practices run into

Our team has supported Houston medical practices since 2014. These are the issues that come up most.

    01

    HIPAA pressure

A breach can bring fines and cost patient trust, and many practices cannot say for sure whether their setup meets HIPAA's requirements.

    02

    EHR downtime

If the electronic health record cannot be reached, patients cannot be checked in, prescriptions cannot go out and billing stops.

    03

    Patient data is a target

Healthcare is one of the sectors ransomware crews go after most, because records are valuable and practices cannot afford to wait.

    04

    Staff stuck fixing IT

Clinical staff did not train to troubleshoot printers and VPNs. Every minute spent on IT is a minute away from patients.

    What we cover

    How Talos supports healthcare practices

    HIPAA-ready infrastructure

Systems built and maintained to stand up to a HIPAA audit, with encryption, access controls and documentation taken care of.

    EHR uptime support

We look after the workstations, network, internet and logins your EHR runs on, and work with your EHR vendor when the fault is on their side.

    24/7 monitoring and response

Patient data is watched around the clock, and threats are contained before they turn into breaches.

    Staff security training

Phishing awareness and simple security habits, one of the most effective defenses a practice has.

    Backups HIPAA expects

Encrypted, tested backups and a written contingency plan, both things HIPAA asks you to have.

    Phones and an AI receptionist

Talos Connect phones with an AI receptionist that books and takes messages but never gives medical advice, under a signed BAA.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

Yes. Talos signs a BAA with healthcare clients before working on systems that store or transmit protected health information.

There is no official HIPAA certification for any IT provider, so be wary of anyone claiming one. Talos helps your practice meet the HIPAA Security Rule's safeguards and keeps documentation showing how you meet them.

Yes, at the level of everything it runs on. We keep the computers, network, internet connection and user access working, and coordinate with your EHR vendor when the problem is in their software. Talos does not offer direct integrations with EHR or practice management systems today; those connections are on the roadmap for Talos Connect.

Call the help desk. An outage is a critical issue and is triaged immediately. We work out whether the cause is your network, a workstation, the internet connection or the EHR vendor, and stay on it until patients can be checked in again.

Yes. A security risk assessment is where HIPAA work starts. Our compliance support covers the gap assessment, a remediation plan ranked by risk, written policies and the evidence you keep afterwards.
